Subsidized Housing & Income Based Options
Understanding Subsidized Housing for Older Adults
Subsidized housing provides affordable senior housing options for individuals with limited or fixed income. These programs are supported through government funding and accept applications from households with extremely low and very low income, as defined by HUD. Eligibility is determined at the time of application and verified when housing becomes available.
Community staff do not provide personal assistance to residents. This includes, but is not limited to, meals, transportation, medical services, monitoring or hands on care.
On site team members typically include administrative staff, maintenance support and a service coordinator who can assist residents with identifying community resources.
Who Subsidized Housing May Be For
Subsidized housing may be appropriate for older adults who:
- Meet income eligibility requirements
- Are seeking stable, affordable housing
- Do not require daily assistance with personal care
- Value community connection and independence
Age and eligibility requirements may vary slightly by location and program, and our team can help clarify what applies in each community. Availability varies by location, and many programs include waitlists.
